What We Do

ANI works to elevate the leadership of people of color across communities in Chicago, because we believe that the people most impacted by issues of injustice should lead the fight for their own liberation. We focus on inspiring our communities to work together for policy changes that will impact our neighborhoods, reshape institutions, and build a strong, independent voice for historically marginalized communities who have gone unheard for far too long. We lead from a deep commitment to racial equity, and aim to transform our community by education, inspiring and empowering our neighbors to fight back and take a public stance on the issues that affect their neighborhoods, city and state.

We are a racial justice organization, rooted in grassroots leadership across Black communities in Chicago. Racial equity is important to all our campaigns. We identify the issues of low-income people of color, organize and train them to elevate their voices on these issues.  We value authentic community engagement, so we continue to knock on doors daily, asking individuals, families, and institutions about what they want for their communities.
