Action Now Institute, along with sister community and labor organizations dedicated to equal rights for all Americans, condemn the 5-4 decision of the Supreme Court of the United States, which found that Section 4 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act was unconstitutional. In this decision, the Supreme Court removed a key provision to the Voting Rights Act. Advocates called the decision “a serious blow to a pillar of our democracy.”

New report shows that of the nearly 1/3 (31.2 %) of Chicago’s employed now depend on low-wage jobs to support a household; the majority are over the age of 30 and one in three have completed at least some college.
