Minimum Wage
Illinois working families need a raise!
Action Now Institute is a member of Raise Illinois, which is a coalition of community, business, faith and labor organizations who are committed to fighting for a raise in the minimum wage in Illinois. This campaign aims to increase Illinois’ minimum wage from the current $8.25 per hour to $10.65 an hour.
Raising Illinois’ minimum wage will help the Illinois economy. It is estimated that raising the minimum wage to more than $10 will create more than $1 billion in additional spending in Illinois. Research shows that low-wage workers use additional wages on immediate needs, paying for food, housing and utilities while also buying goods and services. As more families are relying on low-wage jobs, an increase in the minimum wage is critical for both families and the state’s economy.
